MakeUp Your Mind!

Being a fashion addict, the first thing I notice about someone is their shoes! But for most people the first thing you notice about someone is their face. I see makeup as an accessory...it can not only give you a completely new look, but it can also make or break your outfit.
So for you my fellow fashionistas, and only for you, I am braving my naked face to the internet and showing you how I achieve a striking day look and the products I use. I hope you enjoy!

Before and After

Okay so first things first, God did not bless me with blemish free skin, so if acne and imperfections offend you, STOP READING NOW! I have taken pictures at every stage of my makeup regime so you can see the gradual process and also recommended alternative products to suit every budget :)
Me completely makeup free!
So this is how I wake up in the mornings...the secret is out! Having problem and combination skin means its really important for me to moisturise, cleanse and tone twice daily as I have already done in this picture. I like to use a lightweight moisturiser for the day time. At the moment I am using "Elemis Freshskin Softly Softly Daily Moisturiser - £21" I like this product because it's really lightweight and non-greasy and is great for those with problematic skin as it doesn't clog up your pores. Alternatively a cheaper but just as great product would be "Simple's Kind To Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser - £3.99"

Next stage is for me to use a primer and I am in LOVE with "Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Radiance - £29." I can't rave enough about this product; not only does it help your makeup to stay on longer and give you a smoother skin surface, but it also makes your skin glow with radiance. This effect was difficult to catch in the light I had but really makes a difference. I use this product, before makeup as a primer and then on top of my foundation as a highlighter. Although the price tag is a bit steep for a day to day product, my tube has lasted months and I don't know another product that is as good currently on the market

After Primer

Next is foundation and at the moment I am using "Rimmel Wake Me Up Makeup Foundation Shade 103 True Ivory - £8.99." I'm having a bit of a breakout at the moment on my chin so I find this gives me good coverage but still leaves a dewy finish to the skin. However when my skin is being a bit kinder to me, I treat myself to "Yves Saint Laurent Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation." The queen of radiance has packed a lot of sunshine power into this bottle and it's super formula means a light coverage and super dewy finish. I like to apply my foundation with a brush as I find it gives me better coverage and means I can blend it more easily.

Foundation On!

Now for the night time, I go all out on contouring to achieve Kimmy K worthy cheekbones, however during the day I prefer a more subtle look. At the moment I'm actually using a product I got as a promotion from work. It's a trio bronzing set from Boots for Strictly Come Dancing and it's actually pretty good! I apply the darkest colour under my cheekbones using my favourite brush, "Real Techniques Expert Face Brush - £9.99." The brush is 100% cruelty free and are smooth and rounded so great for getting into the hollows of your cheeks for some expert contouring.

Bronzer contouring! Subtle for the daytime

Next up are eyebrows. I LOVE a bold brow and am very proud of my bushy ones. Whilst I have quite a strong brow anyway, I like to give them a bit more definition and colour by using "Benefit Brow Zings Brow Shaping Kit - £24.50." An industry favorite, this set contains a pigmented wax and a setting powder, along with two application brushes and a mini set of tweezers! I tend to mix the wax and the powder together before applying as it gives cleaner lines and more colour.

Brow Zing!

Reaching the end now but the bit that probably takes the most practice....liquid eyeliner! I don't know about you readers, but for years I shied away from this product as I found it too tricky to use, but all you need is practice, practice practice. Just sit in front of a mirror with some baby wipes and find your perfect flick! I use "Kiko Precision Liquid Eyeliner in Black - £3." This product is super cheap but has a strong colour pigment and thin tapered brush meaning you can get a great shape and super precision.

Le Feline Flick

A girl's best friend has to be mascara. It instantly opens up your eyes and gives you something to flutter. I am currently using "Yves Saint Laurent Effect Cils Shocking Indecent Volume Mascara - £23." By applying two layers to both the top and bottom eyelashes, this mascara gives you a "wide-awake" look , and the light formula means that your eyelashes don't feel clogged up with product. Great for the daytime!

Flutter those lashes!

Last but certainly not least is lipstick and this is where you can either go subtle or make a statement, completely changing your entire look. For today, I chose to go with a vampish glamour look and my favorite shade for this is "MAC Satin Lipstick in MEDIA - £15." This gorgeous colour, is deep, rich and gives your lips perfect definition and depth. I apply a layer of this before blotting and then apply a final coat for staying power. Other lipstick brand favorites include Chanel and Clinique but I'll do other makeup looks for you soon using those products :)

Lush up your lips. Mwah!

And that ladies and gentleman is my morning makeup regime and products! I apologise for the long post but I wanted to show you everything step by step so you could see how the look progressed! Once I have done my hair, the finished look, looks like this!
